Moldovan woman sentenced in Italy for harassing doctor and family

A 34-year-old woman from the Republic of Moldova has been sentenced to one year and two months in prison by an Italian court for harassing a doctor and her husband. The sentencing, delivered by Judge Giuseppe Palasciano on October 20, included a maintenance of house arrest for the defendant.

Between the first five months of 2023, the woman used social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube to post videos and messages accusing the couple of organ trafficking and illegal child trade. She falsely claimed that during a plastic surgery procedure at Borgo Trento Hospital in Verona, biological materials, including healthy organs and oocytes, were illegally removed from her while she was under anesthesia.

The defendant also targeted the couple's young daughter, claiming the child was hers, and sent private messages containing threats. These actions caused the victims severe anxiety, sleep disorders, and significant changes to their daily lives due to safety concerns.
