Moldova's border inspection posts reviewed by EU experts ahead of EU accession

A UNIDO‑funded mission carried out from 13 – 17 July 2026 sent European experts from Latvia and Lithuania to assess the border inspection posts (PIF) of Moldova’s National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA). The team examined the organization of official controls, compliance with European Union requirements, existing risks and the operational capacities of the posts.

The experts issued technical recommendations aimed at upgrading infrastructure, streamlining control procedures and strengthening institutional capacity so that Moldova’s border controls meet EU standards, supporting the country’s preparation for future EU membership.
