Moldova's FLYONE airline faces court battle, raising tourism and investment concerns

The national carrier FLYONE has taken the Moldovan state to court, challenging decisions made on 22 June 2026 by the Council for Examination of Investments of Importance for State Security (CEIISS) and the Agency of Public Services (ASP). The airline argues the measures were based on repealed legal provisions and that procedural deadlines were breached.

Ion Alexa, president of the National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT), warned that any disruption to a systemic operator like FLYONE could trigger economic and investment fallout for Moldova. He noted that if the airline were forced to relocate operations through a foreign subsidiary, tax revenues would shift abroad and passenger confidence could decline. Government spokesperson Dumitru Ciorici said the administration is currently focused on energy and hydrological alerts, while Economy Minister Eugen Osmochescu pledged to issue an official response later.

The dispute highlights broader concerns about aviation competition, market stability, and the potential loss of fiscal resources if the carrier’s status changes.
