Moldova's Ministry of Education launches unique contact number

The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) in Moldova has introduced a unique telephone number, (022) 820-009, to streamline communication with the public. The new system is designed to allow students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to request information, report issues, or connect with relevant services without needing to search for individual contact details for various departments.

Callers will navigate an automated menu to reach specialists or specific institutions. The menu covers several key areas, including study documents, national exams, preschool, general, professional-technical, and higher education, as well as research, youth, and sports. Specific options include recognition of foreign diplomas, information regarding the baccalaureate, and scheduling audiences or reporting problems.

From June to September, an additional option (key 9) will provide guidance regarding admission to professional-technical and higher education, including links to official admission platforms. The service operates Monday through Friday, from 08:00 to 17:00, with a break between 12:00 and 13:00. This initiative is part of the ‘Restart in Education’ reform aimed at improving educational quality and reducing regional disparities across the country.
