Moldova's Otaci Border Gets FRONTEX Training, Truck Traffic Halted

Border police officers of the Republic of Moldova completed a FRONTEX‑led training programme at the Otaci sector of the Border Police. The course covered planning, organization of border‑control missions, second‑line vehicle checks and practical field exercises, aiming to raise operational standards and align with European Union practices. Officials said, “Continuous improvement of border police is a direct investment in the security of the Republic of Moldova.”

On 5 August 2026, Moldovan frontier authorities announced a temporary suspension of truck traffic through the Otaci International Border Crossing after a technical failure of a truck occurred in the control zone, halting the freight lane until the issue could be resolved.
