Molfetta adopts App24 for civil protection communications

The Municipality of Molfetta has adopted App24 and TEGIS24, both part of the TEGIS platform, to enhance communication between the local administration and its citizens. The initiative aims to provide a direct, institutional channel for timely and verifiable information, reducing the spread of unverified news and alarmism.

App24 utilizes georeferencing technology, allowing the municipality to send targeted public utility messages—such as school closures, traffic changes, or event notices—and emergency alerts to individuals within specific geographic areas. The system is designed to comply with privacy regulations without requiring the administration to manage a formal registry of citizens.

As a practical application, the Molfetta Civil Protection used the app on August 25, 2026, to issue a notification regarding a dangerous toy identified by the European Safety Gate system, allowing citizens to access official details directly via their smartphones.
