Molfetta and Bisceglie councilors demand action on illegal camps and toxic smoke

Councilor Adamo Logrieco (centre‑right) said that after his request the local police swiftly cleared a Romani encampment in the area of the new commercial port in Molfetta and that the contractor installed a fence around the construction site on Via Tommaso Grossi, with full works expected to begin in September. He noted, “Dopo la nostra segnalazione … la Polizia Locale ha provveduto con solerzia a sgomberare l'area”.

Councilor Francesco Spina (opposition, Action) reported that a dense cloud of toxic smoke was seen overnight in the Bisceglie countryside, attributing it to illegal waste burning at local dump sites. He called the situation “Aerosol di fumi tossici: la questione è serissima e accade quasi ogni notte”, urging the mayor and health authorities to intervene to protect residents’ health.
