Molfetta establishes permanent committee for Cicoria Puntarelle IGP
Municipalities in the Puglia region have established a permanent committee dedicated to the promotion and valorization of Cicoria Puntarelle Molfettese. The initiative follows the official recognition of the product with the Protected Geographical Indication (IGP) status.
The committee includes the municipality of Molfetta, alongside Giovinazzo, Terlizzi, Ruvo di Puglia, Bitonto, and Bisceglie. The meeting, held at the Museo Archeologico del Pulo, involved Molfetta Mayor Manuel Minervini and agricultural policy assessor Corrado Minervini, working in coordination with the Cicoria Puntarelle Molfettese Association led by Mauro de Ruvo.
The goal of the permanent table is to strengthen the IGP brand as a symbol of territorial identity and an economic driver for the local agricultural sector. Officials expressed hope that this collaborative model for protecting agricultural products can be replicated for other regional specialties.
