Guadalajara approves commercial-to-residential conversion and urban upgrades

The Guadalajara City Council has approved a new ordinance allowing the conversion of inactive commercial premises into residential housing. This regulation establishes technical standards for habitability, accessibility, and urban integration to provide legal certainty for owners and increase the city's housing supply.

Additionally, the city has unveiled a 10 million euro project to humanize the Cardenal González de Mendoza street axis and the area surrounding the Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Antigua. The initiative, partially co-financed by European Feder funds, aims to expand pedestrian areas, improve accessibility with new ramps, and create social spaces for rest and physical activity.

In Molina de Aragón, a 300,000 euro investment has been allocated to renovate the La Alameda park. The project includes upgrading hydraulic infrastructure, lighting, and paving, as well as creating a new playground for children aged 1 to 3.

During recent municipal sessions, the PSOE proposed joining the regional Equality Network to combat gender discrimination, while the council also addressed administrative updates regarding municipal staff and budget management.
