Molis Augustave faces deportation following Pennsylvania local police agreement with ICE
Molis Augustave, a Haitian-born pastor residing in Pennsylvania, faces deportation following a traffic stop for a broken headlight on September 5. The incident occurred after West Manchester Township council voted 2-1 in July to implement a 287(g) agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which allows local police to assist in federal immigration enforcement.
Augustave, a former organizer with We Are CASA, has lived in the U.S. for about a decade and previously held Temporary Protected Status. His legal team reports that his green card application was denied this week without a provided reason. He is married to a U.S. citizen and has two children born in the United States. Although he was scheduled for a deportation flight on September 17, he was removed from the plane at the last minute.
