Molise boosts social welfare with new hires and expanded integration projects
The Ambito Territoriale Sociale (ATS) of Medio Molise has added 12 permanent positions, including six full‑time social assistants and six administrative, accounting, psychosocial and educational professionals, to meet the regional LEPS target of one social assistant per 5,000 residents. The hires follow a joint effort by local municipalities and the lead municipality of Campobasso, though the mayor faced criticism and a court challenge over the reform.
Meanwhile, the 24th report of the Sistema di Accoglienza e Integrazione (SAI) shows that Molise hosts 28 active integration projects with 1,006 accommodation places, largely situated in small and inland towns. The network provides language courses, vocational training and job placement, aiming to counter depopulation and create qualified local employment. Over 60% of participants reportedly achieve advanced socio‑economic integration after completing the programs.
