Molise Health Agency Director Renewal Sparks Political Criticism

A press conference in the Molise regional council’s library highlighted an urgent interpellation filed by Five Star Movement councilor Roberto Gravina concerning the renewal of Giovanni Di Santo’s mandate as Director General of the regional health agency ASReM. Gravina accused the centre‑right regional government of re‑appointing Di Santo before the results of the agency’s performance evaluation were known, calling the process “non‑transparent”.

He noted that the 2025 ASReM budget projects a €43 million loss, worsening by €29.5 million compared with 2024, and that the renewal decree contains no specific objectives, performance indicators, or scoring criteria. Gravina also referenced the recent revocation of the appointment of health director Nicola Rocchia after three days due to eligibility issues, arguing that both cases reflect a pattern of decisions made first and justified later. The councilor demanded clarification on whether observations from the technical table and the LEA Committee had been considered, especially regarding waiting‑list reductions, passive mobility, and the use of PNRR funds.
