Mollet del Vallès challenges removal from stressed housing market zone
The Mollet del Vallès City Council has filed formal objections to a proposal by the Generalitat de Catalunya to remove the municipality from the list of stressed residential market zones. The council argues that maintaining this status is essential to continue applying rent control measures and protecting citizens' rights to affordable housing.
Marina Escribano Maspons, the Councilor for Housing, stated that the city does not yet meet the necessary conditions to exit this protection zone. She warned that exclusion would lead to the loss of legal rent limits and a generalized increase in housing costs, which the council believes the community cannot afford.
