Molly Gray elected as Vermont Lieutenant Governor

Democrat Molly Gray has been elected as the next Lieutenant Governor of Vermont, defeating the Republican incumbent John Rodgers. Gray, a human rights lawyer who previously held the office from 2021 to 2023, secured approximately 60 percent of the vote to Rodgers’s 38 percent.

Rodgers conceded the election via email a few hours after polls closed. During the campaign, the race featured debates regarding labor violations at Gray’s family farm, which Rodgers highlighted using records from the Vermont Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Gray maintained that the focus should remain on her candidacy rather than her family’s business.

In her victory speech in Burlington, Gray emphasized her campaign’s refusal to accept corporate or corporate PAC money. She stated her intention to address state challenges such as housing and healthcare with urgency.
