Molotov bomb attack sets car ablaze in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz
On Thursday, 6 August, unknown assailants threw homemade Molotov bombs at a parked Chevrolet Sonic in the Benito Juárez Norte neighbourhood of Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz. The vehicle, owned by Javier Torres Jiménez, was not operational and was set on fire after the explosives struck the car. A nearby resident shouted an alert and tried to smother the flames with sand, but the fire spread, scorching the seats and interior.
Civil‑Protection personnel and Coatzacoalcos firefighters, led by commander Jorge Tejera Girón, arrived within minutes and extinguished the blaze in roughly three minutes using a motor‑pump. The incident caused extensive damage to the car and is the third vehicle fire recorded in the city in recent days.
