Momil sewage system expansion project aims for 90 percent coverage
The Córdoba Departmental Government and local authorities have announced progress on the optimization and expansion of the urban sewage system in Momil, Colombia. The project, which involves an investment exceeding 22,322 million pesos, aims to increase sewage coverage from 49 percent to 90 percent, providing access to more than 4,700 new residents.
Key infrastructure works include the expansion of sewage networks, the construction of an interceptor, the rehabilitation of existing pipes, and a pumping line to transport wastewater to oxidation lagoons. Additionally, the project includes the repaving of streets affected during construction.
Recent developments include the installation of pumps at the Wastewater Pumping Station. However, the project still requires the energization of the station, a process currently being coordinated with the energy operator, Afinia. Contractors and supervisors have committed to completing the works by November to address community concerns regarding wastewater overflows in the streets.
