Mona Zaki faces legal dispute and bank seizures over Giza property
Egyptian actress Mona Zaki is facing a legal and financial crisis following a judicial dispute regarding a residential property in the Mohandessin area of Giza. The conflict stems from a real estate transaction completed in January 2023, where Zaki sold a unit to accountant Mohie El-Din Mohamed Megawer for 5 million EGP. Following the sale, it was discovered that the property was subject to a mortgage held by a bank as collateral for a 24 million EGP loan taken by the property's original owning company.
After legal attempts to halt the execution of the judgment were rejected by both the appeals and cassation courts, the North Giza Primary Court issued final rulings. The total amount owed, including legal interest, has reached approximately 3.775 million EGP. Consequently, legal enforcement measures have commenced, including notices sent to three major banks to seize Zaki's accounts, deposits, bonds, and safes to cover the debt.
The Egyptian Actors Syndicate stated it has not been contacted regarding the matter and clarified that it lacks the legal authority to intervene in the private commercial or civil disputes of its members.
