Monaco and France introduce tools to combat spam calls

The Princely Government of Monaco and Monaco Telecom have announced free solutions to help residents protect themselves against the rise of unsolicited calls and telephone fraud. To mitigate automated calls, often originating from France or abroad, users can utilize two collaborative applications, Saracroche and Blocall, which are available on iOS and Android. These tools allow users to identify and block unwanted numbers and fraudulent SMS while maintaining data privacy.

In Monaco, the Maison du numérique is offering dedicated workshops and advisory services to assist users with installing these applications and to raise awareness regarding online scam risks.

In the broader regional context, certain number prefixes such as 02 70 are frequently reported for unsolicited commercial prospecting. While these numbers are often used for automated calls, experts warn that the primary risk lies in the nature of the request—such as demands for banking details or remote device access—rather than the prefix itself. Additionally, the practice of number spoofing remains a significant challenge for caller identification.
