Monaco and Italy advance diplomatic and economic cooperation
Monaco and Italy are strengthening bilateral ties through strategic economic and diplomatic initiatives. During the Monaco Yacht Show, the Italian Chamber of Commerce facilitated a meeting between the mayors of Monaco and Viareggio. This dialogue aimed to foster cross-border collaboration in the luxury yachting sector, seeking to consolidate European leadership in yacht construction and services.
In a separate diplomatic development, Italian President Sergio Mattarella concluded a state visit to the Principality. Prince Albert II used the occasion to address long-standing practical issues, specifically the modernization of a 1989 air services agreement and improving medical access for residents of Italy’s Liguria region to Monaco’s healthcare facilities. Both leaders expressed a desire to reactivate the Italian-Monegasque Administrative Cooperation Commission in 2025 to resolve these pending matters regarding transport, social security, and investment.
