Monaco authorities detain man following death of Antoine de Massy

A judicial investigation has been launched in Monaco following the death of Antoine de Massy, a second cousin of Prince Albert II. The 29-year-old was found dead on the night of Sunday, October 25, in a garden near Larvotto Boulevard, behind Villa Sauber.

Authorities have detained a 42-year-old Ukrainian national who has reportedly lived in Monaco for approximately 30 years. The suspect was identified through security camera footage that showed him in contact with de Massy prior to the incident. The suspect is facing allegations of involuntary manslaughter and failure to render aid.

Monaco Prosecutor General Stéphane Thibault confirmed that the investigation aims to reconstruct the events leading up to, during, and after de Massy's fall. While initial findings suggested the death might have resulted from a fall from a height, the suspect remains in pretrial detention and continues to deny the accusations.
