Monaco Basketball presents revised budget to CNOSF to secure league status
Monaco Basketball is fighting to maintain its position in the French Betclic Elite league following a critical hearing before the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) on August 25. The club presented a revised financial plan for the 2026-27 season, significantly lowering the previously discussed budget from 12.5 million euros to between 6 and 7 million euros.
Currently, the club reports approximately 5 million euros in registered resources, with 3.27 million euros already secured through sponsorships and transfer compensations. This financial restructuring follows the abandonment of a previous investment plan involving former NBA star Jamal Mashburn and Helen Holdings. The new strategy centers on the Andorra-based investment fund Clayton Sport and a private investor from the Principality.
Beyond financial stability, the club faces the immediate challenge of rebuilding its roster. Currently, Bengueren is the only player under an active contract, though the club is exploring options involving Yakouba Wata and players such as Joël Ayagi and Axel Toupane.
