Monaco court sentences man for scooter pursuit and injuring officer

A 22-year-old man, Mohammed B., was sentenced by the Monaco criminal court following a series of traffic violations and a pursuit on September 18. The defendant, a waiter from Roquebrune, was operating a scooter without insurance and under the influence of cannabis.

During the incident in Monte-Carlo, the individual drove against the flow of traffic and refused to comply with police orders. The pursuit resulted in the defendant abandoning his scooter, which struck a parked vehicle, and a police officer being knocked to the ground, resulting in three days of medical leave.

The court handed down a sentence of nine months in prison, with six months suspended under a probationary regime. This includes a two-year obligation to undergo treatment, maintain employment, and compensate the victims.
