Monaco Implements Temporary Drone No‑Fly Zones for Major 2026 Events

Monaco will temporarily close its airspace to drones during a series of high‑profile public events throughout 2026. The measure is set out in Ministerial Order No. 2026‑323, signed by Minister of State Christophe Mirmand and published on 26 June. Drones may operate only with prior authorisation from the Minister of State; otherwise they must remain grounded. The no‑fly days target events that draw large crowds and dignitaries, including the Jumping International de Monte‑Carlo (2–4 July), the Monaco Red Cross Gala (18–19 July), the city‑hall fireworks evenings (25 July and 1 August), the Vuelta a España stages in Monaco (22–23 August), the Monaco Yacht Show (20–27 September), National Day celebrations (18–19 November), and New Year’s Eve celebrations extending into 1 January 2027. The policy builds on existing aviation legislation from 2017 and drone rules introduced in 2021, aiming to balance security needs with limited drone activity rather than imposing a permanent ban.
