Monadelphous secures $200 million BHP contract for Nelson Point port expansion
Monadelphous Group has been awarded a A$200 million contract by BHP to install and commission the structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation works for a new sixth car dumper and its supporting material‑handling facilities at the Nelson Point port facility in Port Hedland, Western Australia. The project forms part of BHP’s Port Debottlenecking Project 2, a A$1.4 billion investment aimed at increasing port capacity to handle up to 305 million tonnes of iron ore per year. Work is set to begin immediately and is targeted for completion in 2028. Monadelphous Managing Director Zoran Bebic said the award reflects the company’s strong customer value proposition and long‑term relationships with BHP.
