Monagas security official reports reduction in road accidents
Colonel Eduardo Alberto Almérida Padrón, the Secretary of Citizen Security in Monagas, reported a reduction in road accidents, injuries, and fatalities compared to 2025. Despite ongoing preventive campaigns, officials noted that the primary causes of collisions and run-overs remain excessive speed and the use of electronic devices while driving.
Authorities have issued reminders to motorists, particularly motorcyclists, to adhere to safety regulations. These include the mandatory use of helmets, avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol, and limiting passenger numbers. Additionally, officials reaffirmed that the permitted circulation time for two-wheeled vehicles is until 11:00 p.m., unless the driver has a documented work justification for 24-hour travel.
