Monastery of Saint Dionysius of Olympus wing inaugurated

Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni inaugurated the restored historical wing of the Holy Monastery of Saint Dionysius of Olympus in Pieria. The wing had been previously destroyed by fire during the German occupation.

During the visit, Deputy Regional Governor Sofia Mavridou represented Central Macedonia Regional Governor Athena Aidona. In conjunction with the inauguration, Aidona signed a decision for a new 1.7 million euro project funded by the NSRF (ESPA) to restore and repurpose the monastery's northern wing. This ongoing work aims to preserve the religious and cultural heritage of the region, particularly following the inclusion of Mount Olympus in the UNESCO World Heritage network.
