Monastic tonsure held at Holy Monastery of Paravola

On Monday, October 12, 2026, a monastic tonsure ceremony was held at the Holy Monastery of the Annunciation of the Theotokos Paravola within the Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania. Metropolitan Damaskinos presided over the service of the Hierarchical Vespers.

During the ceremony, Theodora Hatzi, a kindergarten teacher, was tonsured as a novice and received the monastic name Gavrieliia. The event was attended by various clergy and monastics, including Elder Gabriel, the spiritual father of the sisterhood and Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint David of Evia, as well as several female abbots from neighboring monasteries.

Metropolitan Damaskinos expressed the spiritual joy of the local Church regarding the addition of a new member to the monastery, describing the dedication to monastic life as a blessed path of total devotion to Christ and the Church.
