Moncef Zekri heading to Sporting CP from KV Mechelen

Moncef Zekri is reportedly en route to Lisbon to finalize a transfer to Sporting CP. The 17-year-old Moroccan youth international, currently playing for KV Mechelen in Belgium, is expected to undergo a medical examination.

Sporting CP had previously submitted a bid of approximately €3.5 million to Mechelen. While Zekri was also a target for the Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, Sporting appears to have secured the deal. The left-sided defender, nicknamed ‘het Mechelse goudhaantje’ in Belgium, has made 21 appearances for Mechelen's senior team and remains under contract until mid-2028.
