Monchi discusses Ballon d'Or candidates and Fabián Ruiz

Monchi, the sporting director of RCD Espanyol, has addressed recent discussions regarding the Ballon d'Or. After previously suggesting that Spanish player Lamine Yamal deserved the award—a comment that drew criticism from Espanyol supporters—Monchi clarified that his remarks were made in a relaxed setting and offered apologies for the controversy.

In recent interviews, Monchi shifted his focus to Fabián Ruiz, a former Napoli player currently with Paris Saint-Germain. Monchi praised Ruiz as an “incredible” player, noting his impressive 52-match unbeaten streak with the Spanish national team. He suggested that Ruiz deserves consideration for the award, regardless of club rivalries between Sevilla and Betis supporters.
