Monclova businesses call for regulation of event rental properties

Residents and business leaders in Monclova are calling for increased regulation of private homes, country houses (quintas), and commercial premises being rented out for social events. Armando de la Garza Gaytán, a tourism commissioner for the Chamber of Commerce (Canaco), estimates there are more than 200 such spaces operating within the city.

The proliferation of these venues has led to significant neighborhood disturbances, including loud music during late-night hours, traffic congestion, blocked driveways, and excessive trash accumulation. Many of these establishments reportedly operate without proper municipal permits, land-use authorization, or required safety inspections from Civil Protection.

Canaco has urged the local government to conduct a formal census of these businesses and review municipal legislation. The goal is not to prohibit the activity, which provides income for many families, but to ensure compliance with ecology, security, and public order standards to prevent conflicts with local residents.
