Monclova celebrates 337th anniversary of its foundation
The city of Monclova celebrated its 337th anniversary with a series of commemorative activities involving local, state, and military authorities. The festivities included a civic ceremony at Plaza Alonso de León, a thanksgiving mass, and the presentation of the Alonso de León 2026 awards.
The awards recognized several individuals and institutions for their contributions to justice, music, sports, education, and theater. Recipients included Martha Elena Aguilar Durón, Roberto Carlos Flores Pérez, Yolanda Carmen Irribarren Arocha, Fundación Distribuidores Nissan, and the posthumous recognition of José Oscar Castañeda Rada.
Mayor Carlos Villarreal Pérez, supported by Governor Manolo Jiménez, emphasized that the city's history is built through the daily actions of its citizens and the coordination between the government, the public, and the private sector to ensure future opportunities for new generations.
