Mondavio hosts 64th Caccia al Cinghiale historical reenactment

The town of Mondavio in the Marche region will stage the 64th edition of the "Caccia al Cinghiale" historical reenactment from August 12 to 15. The festival commemorates the 1474 arrival of Giovanni della Rovere, nephew of Pope Sixtus IV, who became Lord of Senigallia and the Vicariate of Mondavio, and his marriage to Giovanna Feltria, daughter of Duke Federico da Montefeltro.

Organised by the local Pro loco association with the support of mayor Mirco Zenobi, the event features nearly 200 volunteers, a programme of nightly performances, a Bivacco dinner for soldiers and townspeople, and a Renaissance banquet hosted by the Duke and Duchess in the Franciscan cloister. Director Agnese Trufelli and Pro loco president Maurizio Galassi highlighted the cultural and tourist value of the celebration, which draws thousands of visitors each year and promotes Mondavio’s historic centre, a designated "Borghi più belli d’Italia" and Orange Flag town.

The reenactment is part of the Confcommercio Marche Nord’s "Itinerario della Bellezza" initiative, aiming to boost cultural tourism in the region.
