BUA Foods and Mondelez report strong quarterly financial results
BUA Foods Plc reported a significant increase in profitability for the nine months ending September 30, 2026. The Nigerian food manufacturer recorded a profit after tax of ₦450.47 billion, an 11 percent rise from the previous year. Despite a 19 percent decline in revenue to ₦1.15 trillion due to subdued consumer demand, the company expanded its gross profit margin to 48.3 percent from 36.7 percent. This growth was attributed to disciplined cost management and a 34 percent reduction in the cost of sales.
Mondelez International also exceeded third-quarter profit estimates, supported by easing cocoa prices and higher pricing in regions like North America. The company reported a surge in diluted earnings per share and announced an agreement to acquire Undercover Snacks, a producer of chocolate-coated quinoa crisps, to expand its presence in the healthy snack category. Mondelez noted that while volume growth has returned, consumer confidence in North America remains pressured by high energy prices.
