Mondelez International factory in Ukraine hit by Russian attack
A Russian drone and missile attack targeted a Mondelez International food production facility in Trostyanets, located in Ukraine’s Sumy region. The strike damaged administrative and production buildings at the plant, which produces well-known brands such as Milka, Oreo, and Barni.
Ukrainian authorities reported that five employees were injured during the attack, though no fatalities were recorded. This facility is a significant production hub for confectionery in Ukraine and has been targeted previously, including during the initial invasion in 2022. Following previous damage, the company had invested in extensive reconstruction to resume production lines.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha condemned the strike, stating that such actions target not only Ukraine but also American economic interests in Europe. The incident highlights the ongoing risks to foreign investment and civilian infrastructure within the conflict zone.
