Mondial Relay to invest 500 million euros in France by 2030

Mondial Relay CEO David Lewkowitz has announced plans to invest 500 million euros in France by 2030 to expand the company's delivery network. The investment focuses on growing the presence of automated parcel lockers and relay points.

The company aims to install 3,500 additional lockers in 2026, which would bring its total network to 13,500 automated consignes by the end of that year. This expansion places Mondial Relay ahead of competitors like La Poste, which expects to reach 8,500 lockers by late 2026, and Amazon, which reported having 5,000 available.

Addressing criticisms regarding the impact of automated lockers on local businesses, Lewkowitz defended a “hybrid model.” He noted that 90% of lockers are located within or on the parking lots of existing shops, arguing that the service generates additional foot traffic for merchants rather than acting as an antagonist to traditional relay points.
