Monero (XMR) sees rising open interest and increased trading volume

Monero (XMR) has shown signs of market recovery, with its price surging 10% over a 24-hour period despite broader market trends. Trading activity has increased significantly, with spot volume rising 171% to $13.13 million and futures volume increasing 70% to $200 million.

Open interest for Monero has climbed to $261 million, reflecting an 11% increase in the value of outstanding derivatives contracts. Market positioning currently shows a bullish skew, with long positions accounting for approximately 63% of the tracked sample. While this indicates growing appetite for the privacy-focused cryptocurrency, analysts note that heavy leverage could lead to intensified selling pressure if buying momentum fades.

Technically, Monero is approaching key decision zones. A breakout above resistance supported by volume could signal further gains, whereas a rejection at these levels or a breakdown below support could lead to a deeper correction. The asset continues to distinguish itself through privacy features such as ring signatures and stealth addresses, though it faces ongoing challenges regarding regulatory scrutiny and exchange liquidity.
