Monessen Greyhounds upset Fort Cherry to end 37-game winning streak
The Monessen Greyhounds secured a significant upset in the Class A Black Hills Conference, defeating the Fort Cherry Rangers 14-12. The victory ended Fort Cherry’s 37-game regular season winning streak.
Monessen’s performance was driven by a strong defensive effort that forced four turnovers and limited Fort Cherry’s leading running back. On offense, quarterback Kaier Payne connected with Jay’Veon Jeffries for a 24-yard touchdown pass. Jeffries also contributed a 73-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a successful two-point conversion.
With this win, Monessen improves to a 4-0 overall record. Other local undefeated teams, including Burgettstown, Washington, Beth-Center, and South Fayette, also secured victories during the week.
