Monesterio municipal pool to reopen next week after €535,000 renovation

The municipal swimming pool in Monesterio, Spain, is scheduled to open to the public next week, ahead of the first weekend in July. The renovation, costing more than €535,000, was financed with municipal funds and interest‑free loans from the Diputación de Badajoz.

The upgrade modernises the filtration and drainage system, replaces old pipes and pumps, adds a new compensation tank three times larger than the previous one, and reduces the main tank’s depth from 2.30 m to 1.65 m to save an estimated 500,000 litres of water. An accessibility ramp for people with reduced mobility has also been installed. Final water‑quality tests and staffing arrangements for lifeguards and cleaning staff are pending before an official opening date is announced.
