Singapore positions itself as a stable financial refuge amid global volatility

Singapore continues to position itself as a stable financial hub amidst global volatility. DBS Group CEO Tan Su Shan highlighted the city-state’s predictable business climate and AAA-rated debt as key advantages for investors navigating geopolitical tensions and fragmented supply chains. She noted that DBS can assist clients in pivoting markets quickly to avoid disruptions.

In the regulatory sphere, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has added the decentralized platform Hyperliquid to its Investor Alert List, citing concerns over its lack of oversight and the risks associated with highly leveraged perpetual futures.

Meanwhile, Mastercard is expanding its dining benefits programme across 15 Asia Pacific markets, aiming to include 1,300 restaurants by early 2027. In the real estate sector, luxury properties seized during a major money-laundering crackdown have seen sluggish sales at auction, as high stamp duties and limited buyer interest impact the high-end market.

Economic analysts also suggest that Singapore’s technology boom and strategic neutrality may strengthen the Singapore Dollar against the US Dollar in the long term.
