MoneyGram Becomes Solana Validator to Advance Stablecoin Payment Infrastructure

MoneyGram announced that it is now operating a validator node on the Solana proof‑of‑stake network and has joined the Solana Developer Platform. As a validator, the payments firm will confirm transaction blocks, bolster network security and gain direct access to on‑chain infrastructure for its own financial products. The move is part of MoneyGram’s broader multi‑chain strategy, which also includes its MGUSD stablecoin on Stellar and participation in other blockchain platforms such as Tempo. CEO Anthony Soohoo said the company aims to use open, interoperable stablecoin networks to modernise global money movement and to offer faster, more accessible cross‑border payment services to its 60 million active customers. By staking SOL and running validator infrastructure, MoneyGram positions itself as both a user and a provider of blockchain‑based payment rails.
