MoneyGram joins XDC Network as institutional validator
MoneyGram has become an institutional validator for the XDC Network, marking a transition from utilizing blockchain for payment services to participating directly in network operations and governance. As a validator, the global payments company will operate a node to help verify transactions, maintain the shared ledger, and support the security of the Layer-1 blockchain.
This move follows MoneyGram’s June 2026 launch of MGUSD, its own U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin. The company has been expanding its multichain strategy throughout 2026, having already established roles as a node operator on Midnight and a validator on Tempo and Solana.
By joining the XDC validator group, which includes entities such as SBI Holdings and Deutsche Telekom, MoneyGram aims to support infrastructure designed for payments, trade finance, and real-world assets.
