Monforte closes municipal pool due to water contamination

The Monforte Municipal Council has announced the early closure of the town's outdoor municipal swimming pool following routine water quality analyses. Tests conducted on Monday identified the presence of coliforms, an indicator of microbiological contamination and potential failures in the disinfection or treatment processes.

Mayor Miguel Rasquinho stated that while such anomalies occur occasionally, this is the first instance this year. The decision to close the facility immediately moves the end of the swimming season forward by approximately five to six days from its originally scheduled closing date. The municipality emphasized that the measure was taken to prioritize user safety and well-being.
