Mong Kok car chase leaves police officer injured and multiple vehicles damaged

A driver in a black Mercedes-Benz fled from police in Mong Kok on the afternoon of the 7th, leading to a multi-vehicle collision and an injury to a police officer. The incident began around 4:00 PM when West Kowloon mobile unit officers attempted to intercept the vehicle for dropping off passengers in a restricted zone.

During the confrontation, the driver refused to cooperate and drove through a police perimeter at the junction of Nathan Road and Harcourt Street. The vehicle struck a private car and a male officer, who sustained an arm injury and was transported to Kwong Wah Hospital. The car continued its flight, colliding with a taxi on Man Wai Street and a white seven-seater vehicle on Gascoigne Road.

Police located the abandoned vehicle approximately four kilometers away in Hung Hom near the Hong Kong Polytechnic University student dormitory around 5:00 PM. The car showed signs of damage, including a shattered left window and marks on the windshield from being struck by police batons during the attempt to stop the vehicle. The driver remains at large. The case has been classified as ‘dangerous driving’ and is being investigated by the Yau Tsim Police District Criminal Investigation Team.
