Mongaguá bar incident: attacker killed after stabbing staff

On Sunday, 26 May, a confrontation at the Embaixador Drinks bar in Mongaguá, São Paulo, ended with the death of an armed aggressor. The man entered the venue wielding a knife and attacked a waiter. After a physical struggle, a barman intervened, seized the weapon and stabbed the attacker, who died at the scene. Police recorded the incident as a homicide with a claim of legitimate defense. The Municipal Administration expressed deep regret, stating, “A Administração Municipal manifesta profundo pesar pelo episódio, que envolveu a perda de uma vida e impactou famílias, amigos e toda a comunidade mongaguaense.” The State Secretary of Public Safety confirmed the case is under investigation. The attacker’s lawyer, Sthefanny Martins de Paula, noted the aggressor had a history of violent incidents and argued the barman acted to protect the staff. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and statements to determine the full circumstances of the fatal encounter.
