Mongardino hosts 4th edition of Trail della Barbera

The fourth edition of the Trail della Barbera is set to take place in Mongardino on Saturday, October 3. Organized by Atletica Asti 2 under the auspices of FIDAL, the event features three distinct running distances: a 25 km 'Superiore' course with 1,000 m of elevation gain, a 16 km 'Classic' course with 600 m of elevation gain, and a new 10 km 'Vivace' course which serves as a provincial championship trial.

Registration for the event is nearing capacity, with the 16 km distance reported as sold out. The 10 km race includes notable participants such as Arianna Dentis, a former Italian national team member, Jacopo Musso, and Elisa Stefani. The course layouts for the 25 km and 16 km races have been modified to include more technical sections and steeper climbs, with the 25 km route specifically removing a section of asphalt to better suit trail runners.

In addition to the competitive races, the event offers a 7 km walking route through local vineyards. The program also includes youth races and emphasizes local culture through race packs containing regional products and a post-race communal dinner.
