Monica Guerritore finishes six cycles of chemotherapy

In mid‑April, a routine medical check revealed an elevated CA‑125 tumour marker for 68‑year‑old actress Monica Guerritore. She promptly contacted her oncologist, Professor Enrico Cortesi, and began a six‑cycle chemotherapy regimen a few days later.

Guerritore continued to work throughout the treatment, promoting her debut film as director “Anna” and rehearsing for the opera “Le Villi” at the Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur. She concealed the physical effects of chemotherapy with a wig, but later described the hair loss and emotional strain, recalling a moment when she cried on the sofa in the arms of her husband.

At the end of the four‑month course she announced that all six cycles were completed successfully, thanked the doctors, Italian research and her family for their support, and noted that the film “Anna” will be shown on Sky Primafila from 1 September.
