Monica Vitti named official face of the 21st Rome Film Festival

The 21st edition of the Rome Film Festival, scheduled to take place from October 13 to 25, 2026, will feature actress Monica Vitti as its official face. The event will be held at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone and is produced by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma.

To honor the 95th anniversary of Vitti's birth, the festival organizers selected an official poster featuring a production still by Sergio Strizzi from the 1962 film ‘L’eclisse’, directed by Michelangelo Antonioni. The image depicts Vitti within the rigid architectural geometries of the EUR district in Rome, a setting central to the film’s exploration of contemporary alienation.

The choice serves as a tribute to Vitti’s innovative acting style, which redefined cinematic standards in Italy and internationally through her collaborations with Antonioni.
