Moniepoint loan officer arrested in Yobe for alleged ₦74m fraud

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested Thlakham Daniel, a 32-year-old Moniepoint Field Loan Officer, for his alleged involvement in a ₦74 million fraud targeting Point-of-Sale (POS) operators in Damaturu.

According to police reports, seven business owners filed separate complaints alleging that Daniel used his professional position to profile their accounts under the pretext of securing credit facilities. The suspect reportedly obtained loans through these accounts without the owners' knowledge or consent.

Following an investigation, detectives arrested Daniel and recovered a vehicle believed to have been purchased with the illicit funds. While preliminary investigations indicate the total amount involved is approximately ₦74 million, authorities are continuing to investigate whether accomplices were involved in the scheme.
