Moniepoint restructures engineering and product teams

Fintech company Moniepoint is implementing an organizational redesign of its engineering and product operations. The company is transitioning to a platform-based operating model, which utilizes smaller, more focused teams responsible for managing specific product areas from development through to daily operations.

This restructuring aims to increase engineering efficiency, accelerate product development, and improve service reliability as the company expands into new markets. Under the new model, teams will have greater autonomy and direct ownership of their respective platforms. Moniepoint is also introducing platform architect roles to design and oversee the technical systems supporting these platform groups.

While the company stated the move is an organizational redesign rather than a layoff, it acknowledged that some existing positions will become redundant. Moniepoint indicated it will first attempt to place affected employees into suitable vacancies within the business before proceeding with redundancy consultations. The shift comes as the company manages growing complexity, processing more than $400 billion in annual digital payment transaction value.
