Monika Henzinger awarded Royal Society Milner Award 2027

Monika Henzinger, an algorithm expert from the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), has been awarded the Royal Society Milner Award 2027. The award is presented by the Royal Society in cooperation with Microsoft Research to outstanding European computer scientists who have made significant contributions to their field.

Henzinger is being recognized for her groundbreaking research in efficient algorithms, privacy, internet information retrieval, and her lasting impact on both science and industry. Her career includes roles as a research chief at Google and professorships at EPFL in Lausanne and the University of Vienna before joining ISTA in 2023.

The award, named after British computer scientist Robin Milner, includes a medal and a prize of 5,000 pounds. Henzinger follows in the footsteps of her husband, Thomas Henzinger, who received the same medal in 2015.
